What this question means

Among every question here, this is the flattest field on the entire board. Notre Dame and Oregon at 14%, Ohio State at 13%, Miami at 12%, Indiana at 11%, Georgia at 10%, Texas at 9%, LSU at 8% — eight programmes inside six percentage points.

A distribution this level says something specific: the crowd cannot meaningfully separate the contenders. There is a nominal leader, but the gap between first and eighth is smaller than the uncertainty attached to any one of them.

Contrast it with the SEC conference question here, where the top name sits at 26%. Winning a conference means beating a defined set of opponents; winning a national title means surviving a playoff against the best of every conference. Each additional elimination round flattens the field further, because every strong team must now lose at some point.

Flat fields reward genuine research more than any other shape. When eight teams are priced within six points, a real insight about one of them is worth a great deal.
