What this question means
Four percent — and the compound structure is why.
A trifecta means control of the House, the Senate and the presidency. This question adds a further condition on top: a Senate supermajority alongside it. Every one of those has to land for the question to resolve Yes.
Compound conditions punish intuition. Each component might look individually plausible, and people tend to judge the headline scenario rather than multiplying the parts. But probabilities compound downward fast: four conditions at 50% each produce a 6% outcome, not a coin flip. A supermajority in particular is a demanding requirement that has historically been rare.
The forecast reflects that arithmetic and has barely moved — 3% a month ago, 3% a week ago, within a 2% to 4% band.
Midterms in early November, so this resolves well before most questions on this board. The number is unlikely to move much until actual results start arriving.
